1. What is the best time to take photos?TOP
The best time of day to take your wedding photos is the 60 minutes before sunset. This is what is referred to in the photography world as “the golden hour”. When the sun is lower in the sky the light is less intense and has a lower colour temperature, resulting in images that have a warmer tone.
2. Does having a tan make for better photos?TOP
If you are going to get married in a sunny location then a light tan is helpful as you will generally look more radiant and healthy. Also, if your skin is a bit darker it is less reflective which will help in the sunlight. If you are going to spend a few days in the sun before the wedding please just be aware of tan lines which may be visible if you are wearing a strapless dress. If you are going to get a fake tan, get it done by a professional who sprays it on. Many of the cheaper creams have colours that aren’t natural - they leave you looking rather yellow or too orange and if it is self-applied it is easy to miss a spot and achieve a rather unflattering, streaky look.
3. Will you be my photographer on the day?TOP
If you book with me you will be guaranteed that I will photograph your wedding. The only instance is if I am sick and can’t get out of bed then I will need to source another photographer. This hasn’t happened to me yet!
4. Will we get the digital files?TOP
Yes, all my packages come with your digital files. These are un-watermarked and can be reprinted at your leisure. Please be aware that my images are subjected to copyright and you will receive copyright information which you will need to sign off on – that is part of the contract.
5. I printed some images and they don’t look that good – why?TOP
I use professional labs for all my printing and when people tell me they printed all their images at Big W, I cringe. If you are going to use places like Big W etc please follow my Digital Printing Guidelines – my images have already been colour corrected and calibrated to my screen.
6. Why is an album so important?TOP
An album is a beautiful record of your special day that can be handed down to your children and really become a family heirloom. Remember how you loved looking at your parents’ photos when you were younger? All images in your album are fully touched up and it is designed to tell the story of your day.
7. What can we do to get beautiful preparation photos?TOP
Get a room that is spacious. Chances are there will be quite a few people in the room so it helps to be able to move and work. Try and choose a room that is bright and airy - natural light is important for the photos and also for you to be able to see for hair, make up and everything else.
8. How many images do we get?TOP
On average you will receive around 400-600 digital images receiving basic editing. This of course will vary from one wedding to the next and will also depend on the conditions on the day (weather, time of ceremony etc).
9. Do all your packages include albums?TOP
No. I have a basic CD package for those couples who just want to receive digital files. Once again, I highly recommend designing an album as one day that CD just might not be compatible with any computer you have or, heaven forbid, you might have a hard drive failure. Just remember – back up, back up, back up!
10. How long do you keep our digital images?TOP
Your digital images are kept on file for 6 months after your wedding. If you are purchasing an album they are kept for 12 months.
11. We have never had our photos taken before. Will you help us know what to do?TOP
Most couples haven’t had a session with a professional photographer and as such are very uncomfortable and nervous before their engagement shoot. I can assure you that once our engagement shoot is over, all your fears will disappear and you’ll be excited about your wedding day shoot. The aim of your day is to relax and enjoy every moment of it.
12. How long does it take to get my photos back?TOP
It will take around 3-4 weeks to get your proof CD. All couples return to my studio for their viewings (unless of course you live in Melbourne etc).
