Peekaboo Fashion Shoot | Brisbane Commercial Photographer

One of the many highlights of my job is the work I do with Peekaboo Magazine and this fashion shoot was yet another enjoyable shooting experience. Jen, who happens to be a very talented stylist, offered us the use of her gorgeous new home and what a perfect backdrop it was! As well as being super cute, all the children involved were so great to work with making the whole afternoon an absolute success. I absolutely can’t wait to do more sessions like this one with Bianca and the team at Peekaboo magazine in 2012 and beyond!

Peekaboo Studios

I am very excited to announce that I am moving my portrait work over to Peekaboo Studios – a joint venture between myself and Bianca Shugg – owner of Peekaboo Magazine. Peekaboo Studios will focus 100% on portrait photography including newborns, maternity, families and commercial work. I will be the sole photographer for Peekaboo Studios with the plan to put on other photographers as the need grows over the next 2 years.

Although we don’t have a studio to work out of at the moment (we do have an office and a lovely viewing area), the plan is one day to have a beautiful studio somewhere in Brisbane. We have lots of plans and big ideas for Peekaboo Studios and one thing we will definitely be doing more of is mini-sessions throughout the year where families can update their family photos regularly at a reasonable price.

We have launched our logo today and our site which is very different to this site will launch on 1st February with bookings commencing from 1st March.

Naomi V Photography is 100% committed to all my gorgeous couples and will purely focus on weddings, e-shoots and couple shoos. It actually feels really nice to separate the two now – I have a good feeling about it. It is also nice to have a business that doesn’t have my name in it.

Not sure if I have really talked about it on here but we have also started Peekaboo Models. Peekaboo models is a modelling agency created purely for the use of Peekaboo Magazine and its advertisers.

On a personal note I am happy to be working out my new office with Bianca and it is the best thing that I could of ever done. I feel like a massive weight has lifted from my shoulders. I go to work, and work is work, and home is home! I would always be thinking about work and photography that it just didn’t give me any time to think about things that were also just as important. We leave to go to America in 3 weeks and I just cannot wait. WPPI is going to be amazing and I hope to come back armed with lots of inspiration and new photography techniques etc that I can pass on to my clients.

Beautiful Bump

This is my final post for the year and I wanted to save it up especially for this day! Last week I did the maternity shoot for Bianca (although most of the photos were of Claudia – can you blame me?) – owner of Peekaboo Magazine and a very dear friend of mine. I am sure people probably wonder how it came about that I got the “gig” to shoot for Peekaboo magazine. Well here is the story! Bianca’s daughter and my son went to family day care together for around a year. Not once in that year did our paths ever cross – we hadn’t seen each other, hadn’t spoken on the phone, nothing! We had received an invitation to Bianca’s daughter’s first birthday party and I thought – well it is about time that we meet. So I go along to the party which I have to say was one of the best styled parties for a one year old that I had ever seen and we get talking and Bianca mentioned that she was starting a magazine. She just happen to be looking for a photographer and that is how it all came about!

We have been working together now for almost 18 months I think and she has really helped me grow so much in so many ways. She is not only my “boss” when it comes to the mag but also one of my closest friend’s now and I truly love her to bits. She is always supportive, caring and just always there for me – the perfect friend really.

So tomorrow I officially move in to the office that she has for Peekaboo Magazine. She has been kind of turn half of the office in to a viewing area for me for clients and it is looking amazing. I really felt towards the end of November that things needed to change around my house as I spend way too much time on this computer (yes I am writing this post at 12:40am) and needed a better balance. I am hoping that in 2011 I can spend more time on the magazine with Bianca and also build the Peekaboo Models business. We also have some VERY exciting news about a new business that we are launching together and I just can’t wait……the website is going to look AMAZING.

On that note, I just want to say thank you Bianca for everything and I hope you love your photos - thanks for braving the ants, leeches (ok I made that one up but it was mentioned on the day), swampy water and just general blergh to get these images!

Kirsten & Wade's Wedding Day

As promised here is part II to KJ and Wade’s wedding day.

KJ and Wade were married at The Carriage Room at Mt Cotton by my favorite celebrant Kirstine Britton from Angel Celebrations. Unfortunately we only had around an hour of light for our formal shoot but I think you will agree we made the most of that hour! In theme with their e-shoot we had to bring out the toffee apples again which was a lot of fun! I LOVE props at e-shoots and weddings and actually have the next 3 e-shoots full of props. Sometimes couples are a bit nervous in front of the camera so I just feel it gives them something to take their mind off until they relax!

Even though we lost light pretty quickly, we utilized this amazing room in the venue which was FULL of antique furniture. It was pretty dark in there but we just had a trusty bridesmaid hold the video light for us and it made for lovely photos that we otherwise wouldn’t have gotton! KJ and Wade also had the most amazing cake – a Crispy Creme Donought Cake- very cool.

Kirsten & Wade's Beautiful Wedding Day – Part I

A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of witnessing the beautiful marriage between KJ and Wade. I have been so looking forward to this wedding for a while now – KJ is the graphic designer for Peekaboo Magazine!

The day started off with KJ getting ready at the Mount Cotton Guesthouse which was a beautiful place and made for awesome photos (not to mention a fantastic little treasure trove for details shots). KJ looked absolutely stunning as I am sure you will agree and she was so calm and collected – I think one of the most “together” brides ever! And how awesome are her shoes – I think they were placed on every piece of furniture in the house!

Thanks also to Kylie for coming to help me out – always fun!

Autumn Fashion Shoot | Peekaboo Magazine

Bit slow on the blogging of this but a few months ago I shot the fashion shoot for the Autumn edition of the new magazine Peekaboo www.peekaboomagazine.com.au If you haven’t already checked it out make sure you do as it is an absolutely stunning magazine and is just going to go from strength to strength.

The shoot took place down the Gold Coast and the models were just perfect and the location very cool! I thought I would add a new slideshow with some of my favourite images most of which probably were not in the magazine!

You may also notice that I have a new layout for the blog. Would love to know what you think……(ps feel free to leave me a comment)

Mr Beautiful {Brisbane Family Photographer}

Yesterday I was so lucky to meet up with this incredibly gorgeous family! Â The day wasn’t looking so good in the morning due to the recent bad weather and we were even going to cancel our session – but I am SO glad that we didn’t because we had the most perfect light and came back with some fantastic images. Â Little Master J was just so perfectly behaved.

Babes in the Shade {Brisbane Commercial Photographer}

As you know I was lucky enough to be asked to do the photography for a new amazing Brisbane magazine Peekaboo. I am a little behind with sharing some of my images from our Â feature stories for Issue 1. Â These images are not ones featured in the magazine but some of my personal favs.

Babes in the Shade http://www.babesintheshade.com.au/ is a relatively new label which was started in August 2008. Â Babes in the Shade sell gorgeous long sleeved UPF 50+ chlorine resistant sun protection rashies and sun shirts for children and kids. Â To read more of this amazing success story be sure to get your hands on a copy of Peekaboo. Â The Autumn edition will be out in March which is so exciting and will be even better than the first edition.

Child Model Call – Peekaboo Magazine

As most of you know I am doing the photography for a new Brisbane based magazine called Peekaboo! It is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see the first issue -Bianca is working so hard on it and doing such an amazing job.

We have a quite a number of photshoots coming up so a call has been put out by Bianca for child models. Below are details if you are interested. Oh and here are two photos of Bianca’s beautiful little girl – these were taken during our first photoshoot yesterday (just couldn’t help myself) – I will be able to show you photos of the shoots once the issue has come out so stay tuned.
